Miriam Defensor Santiago passes away

Miriam Defensor Santiago has passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016. She was 71.

According to her husband Atty. Jun Santiago, the senator died peacefully in her sleep.

Defensor Santiago was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer two years ago but according to her, treatments had made her cancer-free and she was even able to make a bid for the presidency in the recent elections.

According to reports, however, her health started to deteriorate after the May 2016 elections.

My condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago. May her soul rest in peace.
